water changes

say I use ro water to top off my sump when water gets low the ro unit come on and fills the sump up. Now I use about 10 to 15 gals a wk . Do I still need to do water changes every week . thx

yes you still need the water changes. Evaporation still leaves the nasties in the water column and top off water does not replace any of the trace elements that seawater will with water changes.

Every week is better but not necessary. Some change water every two weeks, some once a month.

As stated above water changes are needed to replenish trace elements.

Do those water changes. The salt added during water changes has pretty much everything you need in it. You may have to supplement calcium and a few other small things, but it will help keep things around the level it's supposed to be and keep the PH good.

I would do the water changes. Various compounds can build up in the water, and the ionic balance can shift.

Change water every week, you will notice a big difference in the way your corals respond. I change 15g a week on my 90g tank and I keep up on my calcium additions....
