porc puffer with chromis?

is it possible to keep a porcupine puffer with a school of 12 green chromis??

id have the chromis several months before hand, then id add about a 3-4" porc puffer.

the tank is 220 gallons

just trying to figure out my fish list
i do want something that schools together, i thought of a yellow tailed blue damsel school, but i dont think they school too well lol

Yeah that should work. My porc was bullied by 2 inch damsels so I wouldn't worry. But don't add any damsels after the porc because he will eat small (less then 1 inch) fish.

sweet thnx

long term chromis school, will they stay together?
i ask this because the only time i ever had chromis was in my 55 gallon, i had four of them and they stayed together for a few months then they started killing each other.
i hope with a larger tank and more chromis this wont be the case??

anyone have chromis for at least a year still schooling??

ive tried chromis many times and they end up killing each other.

although, i have heard that in larger tanks with mor aggressive tankmates, they do stick together.

My Porc (5in) killed and ate 6 blue chromis that were in the tank well before he was. I guess it depends on the fish.

im having second thoughts on the porc, i just watched a you tube video of a porc attacking and biting the back off of a yellow tang

so i thought would a dog faced puffer be more suited? are they more mellow than porcs?

If you get your porc young it will be fine. Aim for 2-3 inches. Honestly the porc will probably be bullied a lot more then he'll be bullying.

you can never tell with puffers. their personality will be up to the individual fish, although some species are more prone to aggression than others. Porcs are generally more mellow.
