I will be building a canopy for my 125 in the next month and plan on using 1x2s to make the frame of the canopy and skinning the frame with 1/2" plywood.

can't be that hard if you are handy with some hardware and a few common carpentry tools such as a router and a table saw

This is for my 180, but the same idea can easily be scaled down for your 30 gallon.

I didn't build a frame in my canopy. I just used 3/4" plywood and some common trim. The whole front opens up. Easy, solid, and looks pretty good, if I may say so myself.

No router required. I just used nails and wood glue. The three accents are just wood nameplate blanks from the Walmart hobby section.

I just built this, I think it's pretty self explanatory. I'll be building another one soon to go with my Oceanic 30 that's going to my brother's science classroom...

Make sure you look past the old "canopy"...
