OT: 1st trip to Vegas: Suggestions?

hey everybody. Work is sending me to the City of Sin for 2 1/2 weeks and I was hoping for some suggestions for things that are interesting/fun/time killing (as I'll be alone). Never been there before, so I thought I might ask a few of y'all. Not much of a gambler (Read: no money to do so), but I imagine there are plenty of other things to do. Also, anything in the area that might be of interest to one with a "Reef" mentality? I sorta remember hearing about some sore of Shark Reef attraction, and some really large display tank in one of the tropical themed hotels (mandalay Bay? Treasure Island?) Any help would be great. Thanks!

i remeber a big round FO tank in Ceasers, I think it was in the mall. I have only been to Vegas a few times and i don't gamble so i really don't know about casinos. although you could make a short drive and go on a tour of hoover dam. I went on a tour of Glenn Canyon dam just up the river. Very cool.

how are the corals i sold you a while ago?

One of the best Vegas past times is finding a convention and pretending to be in there group.

When are you going? Here's a list of my favorites: (BTW, I don't gamble)
Watching sports at the Hooters
Mechanical bull riding and margaritas Thurs across from the Wynn
Beach pool party at Hard Rock
Catch one show! Pay the price and pick a good one. Buy your tickets now if you want to get into Love or something popular.
The buffet at Ceasars is always fun
So is the buffet at the RIO
There's swing night at some club in New York
Drink a bunch and ride the roller coaster at the top of New York
The M&M store is good for souvenirs
Rent a motorcycle and go for a drive in the desert

I'm sure I can think of more. Even without gambling, strippers and/or hookers, Vegas can be a blast with some creativity.

Everything is doing good except the monti cap, which got knocked off by something and took a tumble into one of my RBTAs. Both pieces of digi are getting huge, as well and the blue tip stag (that one REALLY took off in my tank).

I think all the hotties (or a majority of them) are at the Hard Rock Casino.

I think the good ol' Mirage has a large tank too, but I might be mis-remembering.

Luxor is fun and is in that cluster of big hotels.

If you will be in town during the Pimp 'N Ho, you MUST GO!!!!

It just so happened that the Pimp N Ho fell on the weekend of my friends bachelor party. Holy Crap!! It was like God himself smiled on us.

This party is one of a kind. Not like the exotic erotic in SF which is now dominated by freaks.

BTW, you don't have to enter. Just hang out at the hotel in their bar. It will be good enough.

For outdoor stuff, if you have a car, go to Red Rock Park, about 15 mi west of the strip. Beautiful. Of course watch the heat. Go early or late. If you like to hike, give yourself a couple to 3 hrs there. Hoover Dam by car or bus is great. Zion Nat Park is about 2 hrs east. The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is OK. The large shark tank is the best part of it. About $18-20 though. The underground malls(Venetian) are cool.
Have fun.

If you want reefs, the mirage lobby entire back wall is a huge fish tank. It's a zoo on certain nite when the club is happening. Tao is a pretty cool club like someone had mentioned.

If you dig foods, Commander Palace in Aladdin serves up some wonderfully cajun (white table cloths) foods.

While you're at the Mirage checking out the reefs, around the corner is Samba Steak House. You must try that, they serve up the best Batitas i've ever had if you're into mixed drinks.

For a relaxing day, you gotta go see a show, most of the Cirque Du Soleil shows are pretty good, O being my #1 choice but chance are you won't find a ticket now.

2nd choice would be Mystere and 3rd would be KA
you can check out all the shows and previews here

Oh a place most don't pay attention to when visiting vegas but I highly recommend seeing is Fremont St. Go in the evening when the sun is out, I believe after 9pm is when they start the light shows on the entire strip. A lot of live music in the middle of the streets ect... while you're in this area, there's a really good buffet in one of the hotels I forgot which one it is but look for the hotel that have a huge signs "Tony Romas best ribs in town" sign the buffet is in the same hotel. Nice relaxing atmosphere and the food is decent for a buffet.

by the 3rd day in Vegas, you're gonna wanna come home.
