Need your opinion on lighting: T5 or MH?

I need your opinions on what I should do, hopefully based on your experiences. This is for a ~12g nano BTW.

I was previously using a 70w MH. It was an old bulb so I was having pretty bad algae troubles. I'm finished moving now and I can't decide whether to:

Spend $70 on a new MH bulb or
Spend ~$150 on T5's

There are cheap MH bulbs on ebay but a search on their rep seems 50/50. On the other hand, would it be worth spending double the price of a bulb for T5's when I already have a lighting system?

Sell the MH and buy the T5's. You should get 70 to 100 (or more)for the MH then only put 70 to 100 out of pocket. Hopefully less. Then It would be like you only bought the bulb and have the T5's. My 2 cents.

For your nano it might be better if you you just go with the T5.

if you have the money keep your MH and buy T-5 compare the two set up to see which one you like, you alway can sell it back.

Don't be like me, soldl my MHs, bought T-5s and then sell T-5s and back to MHs.

I had better growth with MH so I went back with MH, oh and can't forget the shimmering of the water.

Does any one make a "HO" T5 that will fit a nano?

I'm all for saving money, so I would go for a new MH bulb. The smallest T5 HO fixture I've been able to find is 24" in length, which may look kinda funny on a Nano.

exactly what I was going to ask.

I don't think they make T5 that small.

I would recommend a 150W MH with open top, lots of fans to help with heat issues and an ATO.

I had a 70W before and to be honest, beside the shimmering effect, my corals were happier under PC.
