Will the 'tapping valve' be ok in polyplumb pipe instead of copper?

I would look at something like the 26th item down the page here. Its a 3/8" Male x Female x 1/4" tubing tee that tits right next to the valve o your cold water line. Poly pipe does not pierce well and trys to self heal or close up sometimes. Its hard to get a clean hole in it.
