I was there today. I enjoyed it. It was great meeting people, but I really enjoyed the presentations. Oh, yeah, and I got some good deals on frags and dry goods.

There will be stuff tomorrow, at the least, great deals on frags and a couple of presentations. It's just not going to be all day so get there early.

It was really nice, I wish we were wearing nametags though.

OT: JGlacklin, were you the one that asked the question about disease being introduced via frozen prepared foods? That sounds like the theory on how one of the new leafy seadragons died so in my head I wondered if that was you.

Yes, that was me. After sitting through that preso, it got me so paranoid on everything I put in my tank, it made me wonder about frozen foods.

I hung out at Fragapalooza most of the afternoon. It was a lot of fun and there were plenty of great corals and drygoods. It's probably a good thing the ATM only allows me to take a $250 withdrawal per day!

I agree, name tags with our names/screen names would have been nice. I'm sure I've seen post from nearly everyone in attendance today.

A lot of great stuff there. Yznhymer(sp?) has some really kick *** frags. DLC had some nice stuff and he was all about using the wet saw to hack stuff up. Sharky's took a significant chunk of change between myself and broke1. Bunch of others there that I have no idea who they were but had some really nice items. A lot of great deals to be had.

I was there around 2 and there was a nice crowd but I expected more people. Everyone must have been there earlier.

Got some awesome stuff from Meisen & Racinrich, lots of the SPS that I've been looking for I got.

Jason (Yznhymer) did have some nice stuff, I regret not getting a birdsnest he had there. And he had cards to with his contact info but forgot to grab one, D'oh.

"a frag is a very small piece of a coral, right?"

Yep

"No bigger than a quarter?"

Not always. Size varies. If it isn't big enough to be a "colony" it falls under the "frag" name.

I had a great time at today at Fragapalooza. I am just setting up tank,so I could not buy any of the great frags I saw. I got in on Premium's group buy and got 8 bags of sand no shipping charges. I really enjoyed the presentations. Dave has a great place.

Next time, we should work out a car pool! You are possibly the only person here coming from the North burbs. I was there around 2:00 too. When I got there, the group was in a discussion, so only a few people were roaming around. It got really crowded in between the discussions, though. It was tough to talk to the vendors unless there was a discussion going on. I picked up a card from Yznhymer's stand. Send me a PM if you still need/want the contact information.

Ditto. I bought a couple real nice frags from him.

Loads of nice stuff all the way around though.

SlowCobra PM'd me with Yznhymr's info, I basically just wanted to check out the site he setup.

Yeah, not many of us in the area, I think it's me, you, Sugartooth & GrandeGixxer in the Northern Lake County area, other than that it's like a black hole. I know a few more people but they are just over the border in WI. There has to be a good number of people out there though, Happyland in Waukegan and Something Fishy in Fox Lake both have a decent sized saltwater sections and they turn over stock pretty quickly.

Chip, it is still a 45 minute drive for me. It is a pretty nice drive though.

Was he the guy in the middle with all the frags in baggies?

No, that was Meisien. If you were looking at Meisiens table and turned 180 you would be looking at Yznhymr's setup, 2 tables to the left of that was Rich. He had some HUGE Orange Caps in his display.

OK, I saw him. Everytime I went by, people were just standing in front of tank talking so i never really looked in there.

I bought quite a few things from Yznhymr. Very nice corals.

Here is a pic I took while there of Racinrich.

The coral you see in the baggie is a 57 head, "frag" of black tubastrea he sold to my friend for $15
Rich had some awesome sized frags. I got several Milli's from him including a turquoise blue that is 3" across, all for $15 each.

Meisen's table was it for me... but I was after LPS. I thought I was done too and then he pulled out new ones that weren't on the table before. Man it was a challenge to not just scoop his whole table into my cooler and hand him my wallet. Yznhymr has some awesome stuff too, he had a chalice that was out of this world. And I don't think I got the name, but the guy between Racenrich and Yznhymr was really cool. I bought an LPS from him that I'd never seen before for $10, supposedly grows like an SPS? I asked him twice and forgot the name twice (if you know what it might be PM me). I have to get an ID on it but I'm confident that I can keep it healthy. Plus he gave me a free tiny head of galexia that had broken off from a larger piece which I promptly mounted. All in all I had a great time even at just the frag portion. DLC is by my office so I had to resist, I wanted their duncans so bad. But since I can drop by anytime to see their stuff, and they've always got a ton of things I want, I was able to resist this time.

And I finally have my Tubs Blues.
