external wavebox
I am about to order my tank and plan to use this method to duplicate Tunze wavebox's without the black box in my tank.
My question is should I make my glass box larger so that it can hold more water and therefore be able to displace more water? There will be one on each end of a 95" long tank. I though I might make the glass box twice the size of an actual wavebox. Here is a pic of someone else's work and to whomever this pic actually belongs to I say THANKS! [IMG][/IMG] |

post this up in the tunze forum Roger can give you a quick definite answer to your question.

I thought about that. I suppose he won't mind if I am merely avoiding the black box while still using the Tunze products.
That was my concern, I don't want to offend. I will give it a shot. Thanks, |

I doubt it, Roger's pretty laid back. There is a guy in our club that has one built into his tank similar to what you are planning. He had his tank built with a sectioned off portion of his overflow. I believe it works fine. If you want shoot him a pm his name is Brad (Mantis on RC).
Good luck!
