bubbles on rock?

Ever since I switched my lights and added a yellow tang to my system Ive been getting little bubbles attached to my rock. Its not green like valonia or hairy stings of bubbles like dinos but rather just air pockets getting trapped to my rock and coral skeletons. Has anyone encountered a problem like this? dont get me wrong, everything seems fat and happy butits weird to see bubbles clinging to my rock.

any ideas>?

more than likely its oxygen being produced by some kind of algae. perfectly normal.

This has happened to me prior to a cyano outbreak...they look like little air bubbles. It seems like there is some sort of lag between the bubbles appearing and the actual cyano.

actually i started getting cyno today.

so increase flow, decrease photoperiod, and a water change should help clear it up?

Yep thats cyano allright. A thin film of cyano will trap bubbles to the sand bed and rockwork.

I think you are thinking of bubble algae. That's a different issue than what stevedola is dealing with. Bubble algae is sometimes consumed by emerald crabs, whereas, we are simply dealing with air bubbles here.

I also have bubbles on my a couple of my rocks, one has been that way for maybe 2 weeks and the other just started a couple of days ago. Does this always mean that cyano is coming. My tanks been running for a year now and I have plenty of flow. I also do weekly water changes. My tanks is a 55g with a light bioload.
