Vivid Aquarium sells them at $99 a head so probably a little less on here

WOW . I had no idea they were that expensive. Why is this, are they rare? Do they grow/spread fast to make it worthwhile to purchase a single head?

some places have it priced accordingly, while others over mark up the price. hope they tell the buyers that they have to be feed, like sun corals..

I used to have sun corals that were open quite often throuhout the day...what's the incentive to buy a Dendro over a sun poly when you can get a nice sized colony of sun polys for the price of one Dendro polyp?

Prices are already starting to drop I have seen them as cheap as $35 a polyp on some web sights. From what I'm hearing they are pretty fast growers and unlike sun polyps stay open and are pretty hardy.

Look at those pictures........dendros are cool looking. Much bigger than sun corals and they open up all day. So if you have lights on, they are open while sun corals usually open up when lights are dim or off. |

$90 a polyp is absurd. My local LFS was selling colonies (6-8 heads) for $100.

If your LFS has them at that price you need to jump on them. This last month was the first time I have seen them offered for sale. My source has sold all except for big clusters of 11 or more heads. |

There are a number of Tubastrea that branch in a pattern very similar to Dendrophyllia. The price youve listed is obscenely low from real Dendro, and too high for Tubastrea. I would just be skeptical is all.

The prices for dendros are still by far cheaper than aussie acan prices but they are two different things.
Iron Chef, can you post pics of your dendro? Lets take a looky and see if its not a sun coral perhaps. |

Canadian prices are A LOT lower then here in the States. I totally find it plausible that he saw a 6 - 8 head colony for $100...and that's Canadian dollars we're most likely talking so it would be even cheaper if converted to US dollars. I've been to a couple of LFS in Canada and couldn't believe how much cheaper they are then the LFS here Stateside.
