Let's see what protects your tanks....
I am borrowing this idea from a post made by MUCHO REEF.
I thought it was a great idea. I am asking to see what you have that protects your tanks from either algae, pests, or whatever. Please tell what the names of each animal are, and how and what they protect your tank from. Thanks. Here's my Guard Dogs: This is my neon dottyback. He takes care of most small pests, or anything small that moves. My mandarin goby. He keeps the pod population under control. My green coris wrasse. He will eat nudibranches, the unwanted kind. Not to mention anything that moves.LOL. My foxface. This joker keeps my algae under control. All of the above listed fish take care of my tank in one way or another. This is what protects the tank from the outside. This is my wifes spoiled rotten Chihuahua. Miss Herminie. She THINKS she is a great guard dog. LOL. Now let's see what you have guarding your tanks for you. |

hexedagain - so is your mandarin in the same tank as the dottyback or coris? How long have you had it? Do you have a refugium?
Here's why I ask: I have a 40g with a 29g sump/refugium, to which I'm adding a bunch of zoas next week. It's been up about 2 years, and has a LOT of pods right now. I just got a mandarin, and I have a mystery wrasse coming with the zoas. I want to be sure I'm not overshooting, and that the mandarin will get enough food. Once the wrasse is in there and I can get a good pic, I'll post one. |

I have had the mandarin for a little over a year. No refugium, just a berlin sump. |
