Local Fish/Coral Shops

Hi Everyone,

I am out from NY for the weekend and I am looking for a few good coral /Fish shops (especially SPS's) to go visit. Can anyone recommend a few good stores in the LA area. I am staying in Hollywood.

Thanks

You'll get varying opinions about different shops...For SPS, I like to go to Reefermadness in the Torrance area to check out their warehouse. Call first to make sure you can walk in.

Here's a map of some local stores a So.Cal RC member made...

its all in the Valley my friend.....
one on Ventura Blvd (called Aquarium Center)...ask for Golan...good guy...member on this board.....(another place almost across the street....pricey!
Then one on Sherman Way and Topanga....OK...a little pricey...the people there suck..."stuck up"...
Theres also one in Santa Monica on Sepulveda...its ok...nothing special.......
then theres one near LAX.....never been there so???
I'm sure with this bump, others wil jump in.

heh the previews for Transformers looks pretty good, lets just hope the hype they make is true unlike how they did with Spiderman 3.

As for LFS's, reefermadness is really popular and you could try to check out reefhotspot. I'd go there but I gotta really start saving up for my skimmer and other equipment. OC Aquatic has some pretty good deals on croceas if you're into clams. They were really nice and hooked me up with a ~5-6" crocea for 40 bucks since I couldn't make up my mind, lol.

If you get a chance go check out Vivid Aquarium www.vividaquarium.com out in Canoga Park. Their corals are excellent and you'll love the surge system they keep their corals in. Lot's of frags also. The 2 coral display tanks that they have against the wall are awesome too. I would also check out Santa Monica Aquarium, they've got some good stuff in there.

Another recomendation for Vivid Aquariums, take cash. Last time I was there they didn't accept credit cards. Really beautiful display tanks.
