The Promo RS 80 by Euro reef is hard to beat. I am running one on a 90 with a 25 cube as aprop tank attached. No algae.

Thumbs up AquaEuro

For under $200, AquaEuro has the following models:
- Classic 250 with two needlewheel pumps
- Downdraft 250
- Recirculating 135

All AquaEuros have that crappy 285 lph pump. Go with the octo, better pump.

The Octopus mentioned above will beat it by a large margin. Its simply a bigger, more powerful skimmer.

Check out the AquaEuro skimmers. Theyre recirc models are about the same price as the non-recirc models for the Reef Octopus.

Where are you getting that information? All of the ones I've seen have Resun King 590s on them, which pump 590gph. They pull around 600lph of air IME, and run at <30w.

I have heard the aquaeuros have poor pumps as well, but for the price you will get two pumps, or a recirc or something that more than offsets the pump. In addition a simple switch with a genx of some kind and the skimmer will rock. I do not see the point of getting a reefocto anymore with aquaeuros around, unless their price increases

I've got a bunch of them at home (resun king 590s) .... I've got a lot more than that out of them.

FWIW, my OTP3000 was only moving about 450 lph stock.

Kodyboy, the Resuns ARE genx pumps.

the aquaeuros use the genx 2400 clones that are known not to mod well. also for the lph your getting the wattage consumed and the heat output were my reasons for leaning towards the octopus. i didnt like the small neck of the aquaeuros either.

since the oct mod,s so well it has me leaning that way.

with all said wont i get more lph out of the oct modded then say the classic 400 ?

very few things are going to get better than the classic 400, that skimmer is a beast! I certainly do not see an octo nw200 getting anywhere near it in performance.
richk: I was thinking a genx4100 or maybe 6100, which are more powerful than the king590s, which I have read all over the place mod poorly, what did you do to yours to improve them?

I just meshmodded it, and did some porting of the housing.

Outy, air isnt the concern here. Yeah, I can get 50+ scfh (1400+lph) out of my OTP3000, but they body/neck can't handle it. Theres no gain. From what I've seen, the neck size on the aquaeuro is comparable to the octopus, and may be larger on some sizes.
