I'd stay away from marinesolutioninc. Go with PA(our sponsor). This is long thread about the mod if you have time to read about it. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1053688

My NW150 is working great. Pulling a lot of stuff on my 90 gallon. I ordered it from Marinesolutionsinc, but it is available from aquacave too.

I had problems with the venturi. I replaced it with a Euro Reef venturi and that was the best thing I could have ever done. The mesh mod helped too. Overall I'm perfectly happy with the skimmer.

I like mine (NW200). That being said, if I was gonna buy a skimmer right now, I'd buy an AquaEuro Recirc 265 instead of the NW200. Same size, same price, better quality, and recirculating.

i have the nw200, on a 120, its a beast imo. pulls out crud just great, no mods, just put a gate valve on it. thinking of doing a mesh wheel to boost it a little, but its not needed as it stands. i like it. much cheaper than the asm and euroreef counterparts.

There is a whole thread for the mods but IMO in order of importance it goes Mesh mod, venturi mod, gasket mod.

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...5&pagenumber=1

All in all it take about $10 and 1/2 an hours work to turn a $330 dollar skimmer into one that can out pace a $1000 one.

Again still great unmoded too. A solid design.

I'd go with the octo 200 and mesh mod it, rocking.

After hahns' review, and the unbelievably low lph draw, that due to poor pump design (even mesh mod, boring out vent doesn't raise it to an acceptable level it's so badly designed), is this really a good idea? You'd have to replace the pumps, and you no longer have any sortof cost savings.

You'd still have price savings because we're talkign about comparing it to the $469 DNW-200.

That being said, I've got some Resun King 590s. I've been able to get about 18 scfh out of them. NOt great, but not bad. With 2 of them, you should be able to get in the 35range, which is about the max that the neck of either one of these skimmers can handle.

No, they dont mod as well as the OTP pumps, but the octopus skimmers can't handle a fully modded OTP.
