Question For those with canopy tops

For those with canopy tops that have doors. When you open the front doors is the lighting in the way? I thought the lights should be 9" away from the water. If so that's not much room to squeeze through. Do you have a pulley system? Any pictures?

Thats my canopy over my 29g. It leaves about 10 inches of interior room, the light reflector for the halide sticks down about 4 inches. It is still enough room to open the glass top, or even remove the glass top through one door.
