lugana utility pump

This Pump is similar to the Laguna Powerjet 5000, except that it has a 6ft instead of a 16ft power cord. It has a maximum head height of 13'5" and turns out 1,640 gph.It can be used for salt water and for reef tanks. It uses 85w of energy and reduces down by 30% once the pump is primed. is anyone familiar with these pumps (made by hagen) or using one currently.

I have searched grainger and looked at all there pumps trying to find one that would be good ( Cheaper ) . One thing I have noticed is that alot of them call out a salinity limit which would not let them work in a saltwater aquarium . Little Giant is one that constantly calls this out on their standard utility pumps . Not sure what the diff. is but I am looking more at the ones made for saltwater aquariums now .

Anyone that knows anything about any pumps bought at grainger let me know .

I would imagine that the difference is material choise. The ones not suoted for SW probably have standard steel instead of stainless. Be careful when buying industrial pumps standard bearings are bronze which contains copper. If the pump is an all plastic construction I do not see why it would not work.
