Still large from this angle. Thats a 5 gallon bucket its standing on.

Its heart will be a mesh-modified Magdrive 9.5 using my custom built highflow venturi. This skimmer is the world first to use the tuneable recirc bubble plate. A concept developed by Hahnmeister and myself. It allows the user to tune the air/water ratio to the exact escobal number. Doing this it also eliminate plate turbulence and can use ANY mesh modified or Needlewheel pump at near %100 efficency.

I do have a question for you Scott. Are those Metal screws /wingnuts I see in the pic? Don't you think Nylon would be a better choice? Also do you have plans for this "venturi". I am going to be building a skimmer(8"tube x 48"tall) for another project and need a good venturi.

Yep...In that thread you will see the build of this one. Square skimmers work great. You over come effeciency with power and size. Many people use square skimmers. Square skimmers do have there challenges though. Like the bubble plate. Square diffusers don't work. Think of this as more of a hybrid.

Thats Marine grade SS. Your looking at over $50 for that hardware. And I think it looks cool. Most of the time I use Nylon. For this one I wanted SS. Venturi's for Meshwheels and Needle wheels are much more simple than Mazzei's or Beckett's. You don't have to worry about bubble size. You just need to inject air.

This is basically it.

How about a pic of the skimmer in action? What size aquarium will this be used on? Nice acrylic work.

Thanks Gary, I have not completed the pump so I don't have any pics of it in action. As far as the Acyrlic work goes I have yet to flame polish all the seals.

It going to be used on a 125 gallon with a very high bioload, namely the owner has a Moorish idol and feeds excessively to provide the idol with nurishment.

Hopefully it will be in its new home today. Though it will not be using the mesh wheel. That will have to wait a few more days. I am looking to get it in today and through its "break in" period. I will take pictures.
