OT: sooo excited I bought a new motor!

I bought a new 225 hp outboard.

A honda 4 stroke for my 22 foot fishin boat...

I've been needin a new outboard for years, but the old one kept running.. albeit hassle after hassle...

I'm just excited, I can finally get out there, at 4 am and the motor will start in seconds...

My old motor was 18 yrs old... and kinda like an old person... didnt want to get up in the morning...

I might be looking for people to fish in the near future..

So lemme know if you like to fish.

The boat is a 22 foot grady white seafarer, w cuddy cabin, eisenglass, 45 gal bait tank... etc...

Can you drive me out to some of the small reefs off the coast in DP and SC? I am too lazy to paddle out there.

Nice motor choice and boat. We own a 21' walk around sportfisher with twin 90hp Johnsons 2 strokes. My dad wants to upgrade them to 4 strokes(possibly Hondas since I'm a Honda fan) later on when he has the money...its kinda weird at the dock seeing a 10+ foot cloud of smoke slowly move along created while the motors warm up. The fumes can kinda get to you if you don't warm them up properly . 2-strokers are fun since throwing the throttles up to 70% from a dead stop can really push you away and want to hold on .

Where have you guys been going out to lately? We've been wanting to go out since we haven't fished in about 3 months.

yup, Fred hall show is nothing but a retail outlet once again. If you went to the events back in the days you can get bags of plastics for a few bucks,Rods with real 40% off discounts, now its just all the stores in one place, nothing more. I will never attend again.

catalina right now wsb yellows, and san clemente island for yellows, and off dana for giant squid.

2 strokes suck.. I am sick of having all that oil all over the boat too...

I fish! Got my own tackle and gear too. Southern California Reefers Day Trip!!!

I just saw a commercial on the new Evenrude outboards that are supposed to last years before any servicing. Are these any good? Seems like outboards run grat if you use them all the time but give trouble if you don't.

2 stroke outboard i would stay with Mercury and Yamaha. 4 stroke Honda all the way. Lowbudget Mercury sat for over a year and fire up on the first crank. That motor will last him for quite a while. my buddy's 2 stroke Yamaha 200 have carb issue if it sit too long.
