Talking Saltwater Pond

ok so i have a above ground saltwater pond on my patio outside
i made the filter 20 gal rubbermaid trashcan...cost me 30 bucks cause of the color...my mom didnt like the grey ones...its filled completely with bioballs...and i have 250 lbs more or less of live rock now and 200ish lbs of sand...oh the dimensions on the inside are 5x5x2 so about 375 gal

do you guys have any suggestions of what i can stock it with...(note) it isnt heated so it gets to be around 40 degrees in the winter...not sure how hot it gets in the summer yet
so i was thinking more cold water stuff...i like to fish so as long as what i catch meets fish and games standards can i bring it home???

any suggestions/info appreciated

I would think to keep any saltwater stock they require a steady temp. But there maybe something out there. Also i would replace the bioballs with LR . They need consitant cleaning to remove the waste they collect .BTW VERY COOL.

i was thinkin local stuff because the water temp changes out on the coast gradually...and if it gets to hot i was thinking of getting ziploc containers freezing the pond water and throwing "iceburgs" in there...lol

I would just culture a mess of live rock in it and sell it. Not much you could really display well, but it's a neat idea. Maybe get a sea otter or something. (joke).

I wouldn't put coral in it with the bioballs in there....I would do fish only. Maybe larger fish.

Cool Idea. I'll be tagging along and see how its going

I don't know if you are fisher....but a nice red drum would be cool...some small sting rays and flounders. Keep this updated....I really want to see where you go with this....really cool idea

with you doing local stuff....the filtration should be good

i'm north of you in the sf bay area, and if i were you i'd wait until crab and lobster season came around and go get me a few of each and throw them in there.

i've always wanted to do this with my pool, except with king crabs so i could eat them...although i don't think i'm coming up on live king crabs anytime soon.
