Two more of the most exciting id's ever! (with pics)
Ok, not really but I got you to look, Any help?
I don't think this is a Cowrie but maybe. This is very small so the picture isn't great. It may not be possible to ID until it grows more. Thanks again for all the help! Peter |

The first picture looks more like a chiton to me. The second picture seems to be a polyp of some sort, but there's not much detail.

1st pic - I actually have a Chiton in the tank that hitchhiked in so I know it's not that.
How quickly will it multiply? I don't know if I really want to see these things all over the tank. There's probably some sarcasm here that I'm missing. 2nd pic - I thought the same thing. It doesn't open and close but it's so small I could easily fit 2 or three on a penny so it could be to small to start reacting like that. Thanks again, Peter |

On the 2nd Pic. I now believe that pulsing xenia's is the right id. I went home at lunch today and watched them pulse in and out.
I hadn't seen that happen before but I could have just missed it. Hopefully they grow bigger since I haven't been able to track down any xenia's near my house. Thanks again! Peter |

Love the coloring on that stometella. Most of mine are just an ugly beige color. Except the single Blue specimen I have seen on occasion. Also have some nice solid Black ones as well. It's amazing the color variations you find in stometella's. I've even seen an orange spotted fella.

black body with blue shell
I agree, the second pic looks like pom pom's to me too, but they're still tiny. Would be interesting to see if they grow into something we didn't think of. fwiw though, I have other "leathers" in my tank that pulse as well. but they don't look anything like that!
