Montipora Only Tanks, Anyone have one?

I have been thinking about changing over to a Montipora only tank for a while now, Cap's, Digi's, Danae, etc..

If anyone out there has one can you post pics of your tank and what your current lighting set up is?

Thanks
Keith

good idea for a nano since they are a little heartier and could fill a nano very quickly due to the growth rates compared to a larger tank and get that photogenic tank we all want.

I would be doing this in a 180, I would have a forrest of digi's and caps in about 12 month's. Especially under 3 400 watt 10k XM's.

I'm starting a 20 high montipora tank soon. it's almost done cycling, but i'm going to let it mature more before adding too many corals. I have a 175 watt 10K MH with 36 watts of actinic PC's.nI plan on going from common montis to rarer ones.

What kinds? I currently have a few digitas, and a few caps. I really want some encrusters.

We can trade montiporas when we get new ones. That way we'll both have lots of variety.

I agree 100% I think the only reason they are not the most popular sps is due to ease of care. Most people seem to want to grow whatever will allow themselves the most self congragulation.

Very cool...

IMHO, the more colorful Montipora seem to always be the encrusting varieties...in which case you may be limited by the LR real estate in the tank.

I just picked up a couple nice pieces this weekend. A bright purple M. foveolata and a M. confusa colony that I'm expecting to color up to bright green with purple growing edges.

I agree and I think I am that guy, I always tried to go after what was popular and usually the most difficult to take care of. The whole time I ignored what I know now is my favorite coral!

Montis rock!!! I have to say, the encrusting types might be the most colorful, but the plating types are the most incredible when they're full sized.

Zoas for the floor good idea.... I was thinking of doing GSP but you can never control it enough, Zoas would be easier.

blstravler, you have a nice looking tank already.

I like monti as they are pretty easy to grow and have some nice growth patterns. Can you imagine a green, orange and purple intangled digis with caps and encrusting surrounding the digis. I would hate to get rid of my my other SPS's.

What other colored digi's are available? There seems to be quite a bit of LE encrusting and caps around these days.

I wouldn't get rid of all of them, I would keep a my few favorites maybe 6 and let them get even bigger.

As far as SPS goes, I pretty much have only montis, excluding a chips acro frag and my ponape birdsnests. I do keep lps on the bottom tho.

I've got ROAB Orange/Green and Green/Purple digis, Superman danae, Sunset, Rainbow, true undata, idaho grape, and I'm going to try and get my hands on a superman digi. I'll be getting a frag of AE fire engine monti soon too. As far as LE's go, I think a Leng Sy cap and a flower petal monti would finish my collection. There are so many awesome montis out there that you could easily fill a 29G tank like mine.

Very nice!

I think I just might slowly change my 180 into a total Monti Tank.
