Deltec Skimmers

Does anybody know of a LFS that sells the Deltec MCE 300 or 600 (HOB)? Does anybody use this skimmer, looking for results?

I own a Deltec AP851 for the last 7 months. Skims great and have had no problems with it. I like the minimal maintenance and tuning of the unit. I have the skimate go directly to my drain. Since this is my first skimmer I could not elaborate how much better the Detec is and if they are worth the extra money. It is VERY rare to hear someone complain about the quality and performanace of Deltec skimmers.

I am aware that Fiziksgeek replaced his dual beckett MRC with a Deltec AP851. You may want to PM him of his opinion(s)

I love my Deltec!

Its a bigger cost up front, but saves on electricity in the long run when compared to a beckett skimmer. In my case, I will save the entie cost of the new Deltec in about 3 years with the power savings.

For experience, go look in the Deltec Forum. When your ready to buy, just give Doug a call, Deltec USA

I remember this exact story from about a year ago from another guy, snail killed new pump....hope it works out better for you than it did for him. I think he had to pay like $300 for a replacement pump for his new deltec.

No way for a snail to get in mine...unless it can get through the overflow and through another intake screen..Snails and like kids, if you dont want them to break something exspensive you gotta keep it out of reach!

Child proofing your cabinets is just like snail proofing your pumps!

angelo 123 how big is your tank? I have a 90 gallon and was thinking out the 300 but it may be to small. Pretty $$$$ when buying the 600.

I could take some pictures next time I clean it, but I don't have a whole lot in my tank so it may not be too impressive

wow!!!
gobie, if you dont mind me asking, what size is your tank and what fish/inverts/corals do you have in there as far as bioload?
that is definatly a heck of a lot better than my remora... but jsut wondering if it is still worth it on my 40 breeder.
thanks!

Fishie, its a 50 that's very lightly loaded. I have one yellow tailed damsel, and for corals I have a xenia, a few small mushrooms, a zoa colony, and a frag of some other zoa like polyps ( still workin out exactly what they are )

dwiseman, I just set the tank up in November. In that time I haven't gone anywhere for a week. Hell, I haven't gone anywhere for a week in a few years. One of the disadvantages of a girlfriend who wont fly I guess.
