Question Q-tip Sponge??

I have a white unknown growing in my tank all over. It appears to be a type of sponge, but I am unsure. I have looked all over for identification but can't find anything.

Description:

White, and look like the head of a Q-tip. Mostly attached to live rock, and a few to the back wall.

Any help as to what it is and if it is friendly? Right now I haven't noticed any problems with it, and I don't mind keeping it in there as long as its not bad.

Thanks

Its a good idea to have a refrence sample for alk test kits. 1.1350 grams of baking soda in 1gallon of distilled water=10dkh. Check your alkalinity test kit!
