No speedboat for me either. We have a 25 foot Seaway Sundancer. More leisurely boating with a bathroom!

Looking at getting a couple of jetskis this year.

It is a small boat so I imagine it is fast enough to put the fear in you. My father and I used to have a bass boat that topped out at 52 MPH and that felt fast on the water. I used to work with a guy who worked on boats outside of his main job. He would buy a used boat and double the rated horsepower for the boat after beefing up the transom. He took me out for a ride in a bass boat he built and we hit 96 mph according to GPS. I have driven close to 200 MPH in a modified Porsche 911 Turbo and I have never felt as nervous as I did in the boat at half that speed.

You definitely feel the speed on the water more than on land. I have a couple customers that I've built boat engines for. One's got a skiff that he races that will run a little over 90, another has a boat with a pair of twin 565 ci motors that will crack 120 and the third has a cat hull with a single outboard that I've seen 160 in. Thing that scares me is boats have no brakes. Fastest I've been on land is in my race car that runs 140mph in the 1/4 and that's nothing compared to 100mph on the water.

Nice boat looks very fast.Sorry not into speed my boat will only do 45mph but it will tow 10 or more slalom skiers at a time. I do enjoy watching boat races when they have them up here. There was one in OCT it was just nuts like 30 boats going all out.

Wow thanx for all the replys.

To answer the question of speed and power:

Its not a 25 hp its 200 hp.
It says 2.5 not 25 hp.That meens the bore is 2.5 litres.
Its a v-6 two stroke.
I runs 101 mph and can run close to 120 with a 260 hp Mercury race engine.

I use it for play and OutBoard drags.1/4 mile.and yes its a blast.
I also have a pleasure boat.Its a 2005 Baja 23 Outlaw.heres
a pic of that one too.

I like the boats and I'm jealous. No lakes around to handle those or I might consider it as a hobby. Nah, no guts!

boat racing a hobby??? surely you jest!!! tis a lifestyle and makes Reeftanks look like a true hobby bargain!!
Highlights were winning the World Finals and landing on ESPN
I have been up to 186Mph on the water in a blown Alcohol boat...

I bought this boat from Mondo over at Denver Mullins shop, put a 940 hp BB Chevy and 500HP 2 stage nitrous system

Nothing else like it either

I figured it had to be more then a 25, didn't think of the 2.5 rating
I've never seen a boat engine rated that way
But not a ton of boat racers around here that I know of
I know what it feels like to do 70, 100 is unreal
But at least you have some boat around you to give you the illusion of safety

Randall

Thats very cool. You can understand what I do for sure.I am on the 2005 Mercury racing calander and several high perf magazines.Thats as close to fame as I have been with this sport.
