Question Best Chiller

in your opinion(please no arguments), what is the best chiller, for a moderate cost, for a 300 gallon system? what company makes it? is it energy efficient? etc.
thanks.

Aqualogic are excellent chillers!! I have had several on large tanks. Right now I have a JBJ Arctica Titanium (on my 120g) that I am very satisfied with. However I do not know how there larger chillers are but I hear their industrial line is very, very good.

I have had an Aqualogic DeltaStar and was very satisfied. I currently have a Current Prime and like it too. You could not go wrong with either IMO.

Something to consider that is off topic... get a controller that regulates to the tenth of degrees. Some controllers go to a degree and the swing can get too bad. I have also noticed that mine comes on less with a .1 degree controller.

I have a JBJ Arctica Titanium 1/3 HP. Working 110% ideal, plus I think they have the best warranty.

You can find a 1/3 hp prime tower for about 550 bucks. Way more than I need, but I couldn't argue w/ the price.

You can't go wrong with an aqualogic chiller.I've been running one for the last 3 years, and it has worked flawlessly.

On your 300g system I would personaly go with a 1/2hp unit. The 1/3hp unit MAY be able to keep up,but it will likely be overworked in the summer time. The 1/2hp unit is the safest way to go imo.

I agree. I run a 1/3 on my 90, but I wouldn't go smaller than 1/4 because I don't have central air.

I have a 1/4HP JBJ on a 115g, and no central air. But I'm closer to the ocean, so it never gets THAT hot or humid at my place. I think 88F one week last year.

Some people will say in-line, but after some time I switched to a separate powerhead for eaze of cleaning or disconecting it at all.

Ever been 158mph on a bike with your wife riding with you? You could tear off the dented pieces of skin with her fingerprints on them.

It's not a bike if it's not over a liter
