If you put it on a wave maker or timer, it will switch directions when it turns back on.

Sometime it starts up with the, thing, spinning left and sometimes it goes right. so if it spins right the flow will go out one way, and if it spins left it will go out the other way. So, you put it on a timer so it starts and stops every 10 seconds or so, and then it will either spray right, or left.

Note:Sorry for bad spelling and such.

go to melev's web page and he takes it a step farther with holes in the bottom. It makes some serious flow. Feels like it doubles it.

thanx guys, never knew that, i though the only way was if you unplugged it and put the prongs in the opposite ways, that seems like the only way it would work, cause doesnt a timer only turn the power on and off, not alternate which way the impeller spins

The impeller doesn't spin a set way. No matter how many times you plug it in you have a 50/50 chance of it going left. So, if you set it up on a timer it might go left, left, right, left, right, right, right...

I had the same problem with the suction cups on my maxi jet, a quick trip to the craft store for larger suction cups fixed that problem

Did you glue them on? If so, what kind of glue? I've tried using suction cuos on other DIYs and they came off despite using marine epoxy.

There is a place on the internet that makes maxi jet hangers.

I just hang mine with the provided maxi-jet hangers, and lower them to different levels with clear zip ties. Works perfectly.

I can't tell in the pic, but where do you cut? Does this dispurse the flow better?

I cut the nozzle off one of mine, and it shoots left, right, and straight. I don't want to do it to all of my maxi-jets since the flow would be a little too wacky.

Last week I was running a Seio 820, and 3 MJ1200s in my 30 cube. I saw the MJ mods on a local forum and did them on 2 of the MJs. The results were simply stunning. I both cut off the nozzle and drilled holes in the bottom.

The amount of water these things push now is much greater than before. Instead of them moving the water in a corner then cause currents throughout the tank. After seeing the results I removed the 3rd MJ as it was no longer needed.
