Dsb

OK, when i started this hobby a little over a year ago, crushed coral as a sustrate was driven in my head, now its DSB. Well , i am setting up a 72 gal. bowfront and i am going to make it half CC and half DSB. One reason is that "sand" at my LFS is $25 for 20lbs. My question is will i get both benifets out of this? It will be set up to where the left side of the tank is CC and the right is DSB, kinda looks like an underwater beach.
