lacking o2
seems my fish are breathing heavy i was told since my stand is closed on the back and i have a canopy that there is no o2 getting in the sump or tank so they said put an air stone in the sump feed from an air pump outside the stand your thoughts please

the water was in barrels with no lids with power heads running for 2 weeks but we put the fish in the tank as soon as it was full

breathing under control
the air stone trick must have worked this morning all fish were breathing normal so to get more are to the sump im running a 4 inch pvc in the stand and leaving it open on both ends

QT tank
trying to set up the qt tank under the stand tonight is just a foam filter and air tube ok for the qt no sand no rock

update all fish doing well tank has been real stable with water parameters set-up the phosreactor today real simple job seem to working fine it is at the sump anyone know anything about Nautilus EX protein skimers i have a chance to pic one up

atlantic blue
got an atlantic blue tang put it in the qt today the skimmer is starting to produce waste small amounts of discoloration on the sand but not much problems to report i really enjoy the large tank i will be starting the 46 bow reef shortly it will go up fast because it is all boughteen stand and all hardware is here so we are not waiting on anything the live rock are even here that will start in 2 to 3 weeks thanks for the opertunity to share my project

all tanks go threw cycles this is just one that im sure it will go threw before it all stableizes nothing serious the water rock and sand was cycled but not in the tank so expect some brownis on the sand and rock the urchin is keeping it clean so far

qt death
glad i decided to put the qt tank in with this project i got a orange shoulder tang looked great when he come home 3 days later he was covered with ich and today on day 5 we lost him goes to show you it always pays to qt this could have been my display tank

Sweet tank Gordan!! I'm getting ready to setuo a 125gal. This thread helps alot! So what size return pump did you end up getting? And can you post some close up pics of your plumbing?

i got a 1200 gph but had to turn it down it was to much ill try to get pics tonight ive been making promises to do so but been busy setting up my 46 bow front

it was real noisey with the 1200 couldnt even here the tv but the sump im running is only capable of 800 gph so by turning it down it works well
