I used one for quite some time, great skimmer. The Ocean Runner upgrade was worth the money for me. I thought about 75 gallons was a good maximum limit for this skimmer. I never used the water leval nuts....it seemed to work best with full flow.

how deep is the sump water level...I mean how far up the skimmer is the sump water?
Any idea how much gph was feeding it? I wonder cuz the max rating is for 180 gal.....what sort of of load did you have in the tank? ie, number/type of fish

an aside, how do you get pics to post str8 into the thread???

one person on RC told me he installed an air pump to the air inake line and put a brass valve on the line to control the air feed. the guy mentioned it really beefed up his t1000 skimmer performance and started giving him more gunk everyday.

My T1000 pulls out about a 1/2" of gunk out everyday, been going on 2.5 years now.

Did you ever run your turboflotor and ER side by side, to see how much more skimmate the ER pulls out?

The ES8-2 puts out easily 4 times the skim mate. The floater is a great skimmer in its place and can be tweeked to perform well. The ER is rated for 155 gallons & dwarfs the AquaMedic. Once I smelled the production..........

Thanks for the info.

I was thinking of "Upgrading" to an ASM or a ER.
Just need to convince the wife.

I personally think the T1000 is a highly underrated skimmer. I run mine on a 90 gallon w/ an insane fish load (listened to the wrong LFS). My nitrates are still at ~20 ppm, but with 13 fish, I'm rather surprised that it isn't higher.

i have a turboflotor on my 65 gallon, it is highly underfed only 100gph from a power head but it still puts out about 2 inches of dark skimmate every day also i only have 6 fish. when i finally get around to getting a larger power head ( about 250gph) i will be doing a slight mod to the nobs on the return if you cut the stems off of them the water is much easier to exit thus lowering the water level in the skimmer. i really like it and think it is an excelent skimmer for the money. however you should also consider a CSS if you can do the hangon type there is an excelent thread on here just do a search. and good luck!!!

Fella1320...remember that you can take the throttling caps (nobs) completely off. I don't use mine at all, since the OR2700 injects so much air I need the level as low as possible.
