I love your pulse xenia, clam, and blue mushroom.
What kind of clam is that? Is this Kenya Tree? |

That is a macro of a colt coral, it is much bigger than that Most of the corals in my tank came from another local reefer's tank such as the xenia, mushroom, and that colt coral along with many more. The clam is a crocea, and the other on an earlier page is a derasa.
Well, looks like the tank is ready to go! Nitrites hit zero just a little while ago! |

1st, great set-up.
Question on Mag 12. I have a 90g RR set up in process ... Your Thread says 3/4" return pvc piping. Differnt threads and product data on Mag 12 talk about 1-1/2 ID return piping. Any problems to date with 3/4. My return bulkheads are 3/4 as well. Also, how's the noise on the mag 12? |

Check out the DrsFosterSmith.com site. It tells you the input and output is 3/4." For quietness, I put the foam thing under it that it came with to stop vibration. I think people have said eheims are real quiet but I haven't owned one.

I read a lot of posts, and those Mag 12's that are submerged, most say are quiet. I'm going to give it a shot and keep the mag 12.. Hope to plumb the tank this weekend and looking for opinions on whether to upsisze the 3/4 outlet to 1-1/2, downsize through the 3/4" bulkhead, upsize into the overflow back to 1-1/2 and downsize back again to 3/4 thru the weir box. Seems like an odd plubming solution and leaning towards keeping 3/4 all the way from the pump outlet to the tank. Any advice?

I kept it 3/4" return and 1" drain. Just I put 2 shut offs on the drains. 1 shutoff valve on one drain and 1 on the other. When I closed some of the drains off a bit to drain less water, it quieted up a lot.

Beautiful pics, t5Nitro! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your Galaxy ballasts from? Thinking of using these for my next setup. Whats your thoughts on them so far?

Thanks. The yellow tang and the powder brown need to work things out a bit yet. The powder brown doesn't do anything, just swims by or trys getting away at times. The yellow is smaller and follows him nonstop.

Looks awesome, t5nitro. Where did you get your Galaxy ballasts from? Any thoughts on their performance yet?

I got the ballasts from TheReefStop.com, a sponsor here on RC. They seem to work the same as the magnetic, or close to anyway. Maybe a little more blue, so you may get a more actinic look to it without supplements. I am using 14k bulbs too which are also more blue to start.

Nice Rockwork t5Nitro. Beautiful tank. I have a question about the megaflow overflow. What type of piping did you use to plumb the drain?
