Or use an extra magnum 350 to feed it. Sorry for rambling - thanks in advance.
I'm running a three pump recirc on my 140..

I did just what you're suggesting. I have a Tee off my overflow drain line that I feed directly into the skimmer:

This way the nastiest of the water ends up going through the skimmer first. When I feed frozen food the skimmer starts pulling it out almost instantly.

FDNW-400-6540 Recirc

Just taken delivery of the my new 'big mumma'. Previously I have used the DNW-200-6540 and it was a beaut!

The packaging is as big as my current 5' tank. (skimmer will go on to a new 8' tank currently in planning)

Excellent internal packaging

Size of this thing compared to my JDM Technologies FI627 beckett skimmer

Freshwater and leak testing with 2 litre of vinegar in solution ... notice the foaming

Found this inside the skimmer ... does anybody know where it fits ins?

Question RPS-2000 $189.99 or can I do better

I just purchased an RPS-2000 for $189.99 + Tax. I am setting up a 225 gal reef with fish. I still have time to return it to the store unused if I can do better. I'm trying to stay under $200. Any opinions or recommendations?

I would take it back and get a bigger one. I'm running a RPS-2000 on my 75 and it is adequate but I don't feel it is oversized at all.

Comes with 4 x OTP 3000's and I'm feeding it with an OR3500. Feed rate equates to 87% of the skimmer rating.

It's connected up to and running the 5' (600L system) display -- should be able to give the ORP a real jolt!

At least 2/3 of the skimmer is solid white micro bubbles.

The only PITA are the hex nuts on the skimmer cup. A screw coupling, if available, would be enormous but I think that they can do better than hex nuts that are hardwork on the fingers. Come to think of it this size skimmer cup would be best served with an 1/8 turn quick release coupling.

Make sense?
When I first got this skimmer I cussed at it for 2 straight weeks because it wouldn't skim. And I couldn't figure out why. Until I raised the water level inside the sump. I always had no more than 4-5" of water at the most in the sump. I ran this skimmer in the sump with the same amount of water and got nothing. Then I raised the water level to 9" and it started skimming. It's just not skimming like it should be for me. I cleaned 5 days ago and have only gotten 1/2 cup of skimmate.

You should be able to find thumb screws to replace the hex nuts at homedepot. The MTC2000 I replaced had nylon thumb screws that I still didn't like. I am sorta glad I bought the DNW-300 with the union.

Would a nw150 be a good choice for a 90g with a 40g sump; medium bioload? I would like to order a skimmer today, but I want to ensure I buy the right size.

How long did it take for your new skimmer to produce foam. Everything looks good but no foam yet. It has only been a couple of days. I think it took my last skimmer over a week but that was 2 years ago. I also put in a new acrylic sump. Would this delay the foam also?

I think the NW-150 might be a better fit. Unless you have space constraints that it won't fit, it'd be worth the extra $30.

I bought the NW150. I ran it for four hour with vinegar water, and it's been in my sump for 3 days now. I've got maybe a quarter of an inch of skimmate. It's a new tank with no bio yet, but I figured there would be more foam. I also left the o-ring off where the air line goes in. I figured what was the point, plus the o-ring blocked part of the hole. Could that be the problem?

If anyone has any extra enkamat, let me know. I'd like to mod my NW-200.

I left my o ring off also. I did not see it in the instructions so I left it off. I have enough bubbles just no foam yet. I know it took about a week for the aqua c to break in but I was hoping this would go faster.

Well after all this reading I decided to trim the inside of the o-ring and installed it. I must have had some leakage there because I had to lower the riser tube after putting the ring in. Bubbles look the same though.
