No it's not setup yet! I have not even seen the glass LOL. Today is the big day. Glass should be here in the late morning and the tank will be put together tonight.

Glass came in today. build will start tonight. Here are a few pics of some of the glass. The sheet on the stand is reg 5/8" float glass. The 2 panes laying leaning are the 96" X 30" Starphire panes. In the pictures you can really see the difference in color.

I'm using my old stand from my 240g tank. The whole stand will be skinned with green board then painted the same color as the walls. I did not want to install the drywall until the tank and all plumbing is completed. There will be no doors on the stand my sump and all pumps will be in the basement.
The canopy will also be built into the ceiling. I want to have access to both side of the tank. So doors will be on both sides above not sure what style of doors to go with yet? |

Thanks I want this tank to be better then the last. Learn from a few mistakes I made with the last. My last tank the overflow took up to much room in the tank. Tangman, It's a he is 3 year old male his name is Otis. Great dog I love pugs very loyal dogs and smart. Yours looks like a cutie. Thanks for the wish of luck on the build tonight. |

Well that tank got built! Everything went smoothly. Here are a few pics of the build. The glass on the outside has not been cleaned yet clamps are still on for min 24hrs. Silicone has not been scrapped off yet. I'm not going to stay in the house tonight the old lady and me may not wake up in the Morning LOL The smell is to much. So this is all for now have to get some air!!!!

Bracing will be added after I measure the starboard I need inside the tank. I want one piece do not want any seems. Also the weir will be installed for the 2 1 1/2" bulkhead holes.

I will try to take as many as possible DerekW, There was a trick to this I sent her and our dog to my Mom's house. What she can't see will not hurt her DFL18, mmgm, mikeo1210, Thanks for the complements billpa, It has been over 2 months now without a tank since my mishap with the 240g. I just had to fill the void sixxer, Not yet but you know me.... Big Angels are on the top of the list. Have to get to work on the tank more updates to follow. |

tanks looking good. i kind of thought you might want to sleep at mom's house. it is a good thing that we built it last night, my car is being delivered today. so i am not sure when i could have built it. are we still on for wednesday for the braces and overflows? later

Very cool, I am thinking hard on doing the same kind of thing not really the building of the tank but that would be the ultimate. It is a bit scary but hey somebodys gota do it and what a great experience. My hats off to you for pulling this off and I hope someday I might find the whatever to try this myself. Thanks allot for the inspiration.
