You just keep getting more and more toys. What's the next item you'll get?

Hey Marc I am now considering turning the Pump and putting a 90 elbow in the feed line. I could put in a much larger sump that way.

If your return pump has a 1.5" intake, and since your sump hasn't even been built yet, why not just go with a 2" bulkhead and plumbing up to the pump? It'll cost you more for the bulkhead, single union ball valve, and strainer, but you'll never have to worry about it after that. Would you orient the pump to it vents heat toward the front of the stand or out the back? Toward the front puts the plumbing toward the rear of the stand; toward the front puts the plumbing in the way unfortunately.

That is surprising. Who did you go through to try and find one? I think that Aquarium Specialty has them in stock

That manifold is great! That is going to look super tough and be easy to make adjustments. BTW did you use the gray glue?
I have a sequence snapper and it makes very little noise. I to agree adding water will make a big difference. I had to chime even though this has already been discussed. I also try to order from local shops I think it makes up for the countless free questions they answer. Plus some of the Austin shops are cheaper then the internet. |

Today I worked on the stand some more, I got the prop tank shelf built, This will hold a 28X8X9 prop tank with 2 24w T5s for light. You can see the reflectors in the picture. The blue tub was a trial fit for a sump. Im going to have to go 3 inches narrower then the blue tub but other then that its the same size.
Tomorrow I will go get some mounts for the manifold. Then I can temp mount it and figure out how Im going to plumb it. The sump design is under way now. I finally know whats going to be the best fit so now I can start.

Tell him that is too tall. 16" is fine, and gives you room to work.

Great build so far! Your stand and canopy look incredible...I wish I had the skills to have built mine like that.
I have a Sequence 5800 pump for my closed loop and it is very, very loud. Loud enough that I (well...more my fiance) am debating changing it for something else (If I keep it, she may want to trade me for something else ). I was considering the Barracuda but after reading your thread, maybe not... Definitely will be following this build! |

Thanks! <--------- RC newbie who will be joining the DFW crew in late '08. Abandoning overpriced SoCal to join the GF possibly around Grand Prarie. Then I'll really be able to torment Marc. Last edited by wabio; 12/16/2007 at 09:13 AM. |
