My new rare aussie acan

Here is a picture of my new aussie acan. Picked the coral up yesterday from justcoral.com in Ohio. The owner, Scott Wilson, sold me this gem before the acan and ducan corals are available online, which will be soon. He had some very nice ducan and acan frags as well, but the wife said no ...go figure!

I would like to add some orange/red acan frags soon as well. The purple/green colors are so nice. Looks much better in person.

Great Acan. You should buy your wife hand bags and tell her to look the other way on the corals :P lol it works for me sometimes.

nice piece... I am guessing the price of the aussie acans are going to drop through the floor with as many of them that are entering the country in the last 6 months. It seems as though every online vendor has them now.

Im sure the fairly normal ones will but I,ve seen pics of some of those colonys in Canada and so far none really compare. We will see though.

I talked to Scott today and ordered a few things. Seems like a nice guy and I'm really looking forward to my order. I'll update you guys in another thread once I get em Don't get too excited though, I couldn't swing colonies. Part opf the fun is growing them into colonies anyhow

I like dealing with Scott Wilson from JustCoral.com. He is friendly, helpful and his prices are very reasonable. Looking forward to seeing your acan frag pack soon!

I tried that approach last year...After I upgraded this year to a much larger reef system, my trade-off was purchasing a new flat screen television for my wife. Turned out to be a win, win situation, although she was not happy with getting coral reef DVDs on her birthday....oh well, I tried!

That is good question.

The box they were shipped in is made in Australia and they came in on a Qantas flight to LA before being forwarded to us. I hope this helps.

Honestly there really is no way to know... You just have to put a little faith in humanity and whoever you're buying from that they're an honest seller. I've been skeptical of the "non-indo" Lords in the past, but with the Aussie Lords it was known they were coming in. Also, where I ordered from (justcoral.com) just didn't strike me as the kind of place that would try to pull a fast one on anyone.

Looks like a normal aussie acan to me. Typical colouration and polyp shape. I used to have one just like it.

looks very similar to one of my aussie acans. As far as not knowing where they come from how scum bag are your local reef shops? I know online its hard to say but at least here I know for a fact the ones here are coming from Australia, you could see the boxes they arrived from. On top of that none of the shops here would ever lie about something like that. They may exagerate things from time to time but there is nothing they have ever done to make me distrust them in the slightest.

And aussie lifted it's coral export restrictions as of late so it makes sense that they are coming in.

Regardless, pay the price for the coral, now where it's from. I wouldn't pay more for an ugly aussie acan. Pay for the beautiful stuff you never see, sure.

I would concur they are likely aussie as it would be counter-cost productive (to "dupe" someone due to the cost on priority int'l freight--ie. Indo to Australia) just for the sake of passing Indo off as Aussie. JMO
