To be honest i am not really sure but i would guess a 75. I would contact the building owner/supervisor for plans to where the beams in the floor run, and if you could place the tank on on eof those then id say you could go a little bigger.

best bet is to talk to the owner tho

I personally had a 75 gallon on a second floor apartment, with no feeling of it being unsafe. Make sure it is on a load bearing wall, and the stand is perpindicular to the floor joists...ask the apartment manage if you dont know whick way they run.

On a side note, it was a %#$*& to move a 75 and all of its contents when I moved out down the stairs, let alone getting it up there. I can't imagine moving a 120 up stairs. Made me never want a tank off the ground floor again.

just dont be crazy, if management finds out that you want a fish tank, any size, on the second story, they may charge insurance. My place only allows 1 tank on the first story. I have 6 different ones on the second story that they dont know about.

it's gonna depend on where you live. if my tenants put a 75 upstairs w/out telling me i'd rip their heads off. my upstairs sucks, you can hear it creaking and you can feel it sagging as you walk on it.

i think it depends on a case by case basis. there's no way to know w/out knowing what is under.

I had an 80 on the 2nd floor of my apt, I put it infront of the fireplace thinking that would be just fine, when you walked across the floor and all pumps were off you could see the water move with each foot step, Im glad we moved!
