Pro Heat digital temp. controller/titanium heater

Need to get a submersable heater for in-sump with total water volume of 240 gallons.
I was using an inline heater, liked it - no problems, but soon moving to a basement sump, and don't want to resrict the flow down to it's diameter.
Saw the Won pro heat d-58 which is an LED digital display temperature controller, and works with the pro heat titanium heating element.
Like the idea of the digital display, keeping my hands off the heater, and allowing the controller to function.
Just wondering if this is a good product, champion lighting carries it, but would appreciate feedback if any RC members are using it.
Thanks.

I've used these heaters and they work well, but in my opinion the thermostats were not too accurate.

Ive had 3 of them, only 1 still works. Other 2 didnt even last 1 year. I will never buy again. If you do a search on heaters, you'll find alot of negatives about those.

good luck, Mike

^^^Thanks for the feedback, it would probably be best to stay away from this heater.

I think you can find a bad review of every heater on the market. I think the safest most accurate way to deal with heater problems is to buy a controller. I have used an Aqua Logic dual stage controller for two years and would'nt run a heater or chiller with out something like it.

I went throught 2 of them in 6 weeks. The folks at Marine Depot made a comment about the number of them that have been returned lately. They did not even question it when I got a 2nd RMA number 10 days after receiving the heater.

Maybe I was unlucky. Maybe the product has issues.

I am going to check out the Aqua Logic controller - after looking I want to run two 400 watt Hyra heaters on it.

Just realizing (after talking w/marine depot) that this type of controller will work with a chiller and heater, but not just 2 heaters.
I think the only controller I could use is one like a neptune octopus or aqua jr.

Pro Heat, IMO is total junk I will never buy one again. I also ordered quite a few from MD several years ago and not one is still working today.

I am using the new heating tubes and so far, so good. There is no thermostat in the tubes. I run two 300W elements on a ReefKeeper 2 controller. I would never run a heater without a controller of some type because all of the built in thermostats are unreliable. Haven't been running them that long though. I don't think the tube only ones have been out that long.

Also - you may want to read people's replies very carefully. It is so hard to judge what exactly they had that worked or didn't work. As soon as people see 'WON' they think you are talking about their heater. Looks like you are asking only about the elements/tubes without the built in thermostat.

By the way - you can run two heaters on any controller if you don't exceed the power rating. You just get a plug you can plug the two heaters into. As long as you are not exceeding the power rating of the controller you will be fine. For example - if the plug can handle 800 watts you can split to be be two 400W heaters. Both heaters will turn on and off at the same time. Menards, Home Depot, Ace Hardwhere, Target, etc all carry them. Be sure to get one that has the third prong for the ground in case you need that.

I recently went through the heater woes, a high quality, name brand finally stuck on and my tank went to 97 degrees! NOT GOOD..
This was the second heater to stick in 3 months.
After that I purchased an Aquajr controller. Now if my heater sticks on I will most likely never know it as the Aquajr now controls it.
My temp stays with in four tenths of my set point of 77.8 degrees.
I would think with your 200 gallon system that you would want all of the other features that a Aqua Controller offers.
