Mandarin Pair at LFS

I saw a male and female Mandarin fish at a LFS. They were each about 3in,and are inseperable. Should I snag them? I have 2 Ocerraris Clowns, Royal Gramma, Scooter Dragonete, and corals. Are they small enough to be trained to eat Arctic pods fed dialy to the tank? Thnaks so much!Blake

P.S. Please awnser A.S.A.P., the Mandarins don't last long at that store.People buy them quickly.

If your going to put them in your 30 with the rest of the listed fish I would have to say dont get them. Thats too many fish for that size of tank and mandarins and scooters need a ton of pods and stuff.
Cheers

honestly I dont feel that a pair are too particulary special unless they both eat frozen or pellets. I have paired several mandarins for friends and it almost always works with any similarly sized males and females. males have an extended first dorsal spine. If you ever get one to eat pellets hold on to it. I have a psychedelic that loves pellets and she has "taught " numerous other mandarins to accept pellets.

The guy at the Lfs told me that the Scooter Dragonetes are as strong as oxes, and I could get a mandarin also. He did tell me that he wasn't sure if they ate frozenfood and getting them would be a gamble. I can trust this gut because he has helped my get my tank and is really good friends with my dad.

I have decided to get only one, and to wait until I find one that will eat Arctic pods/Mysis/Brine. Would that diet be ok?I know it will wipe out my pods in a matter of days.

I have a breeding pair that I have had for just over a year. I have yet to witness them feed on frozen food. Best of luck with you new pair, that add alot of color to a tank.

you dont have any pods, your scooter already wiped them out.

sad that YOU would choose to separate "Inseparable" fish : ( especially since you are unsure wheter or not you can keep them fed.

The male has what look like a spine on the end of his dorsal fin.
