Just out of curiosity, why do you want clear fittings? Because they are clear, light can get into the fittings and algae will start to grow on the inside of them. Maybe thats a good thing, maybe not but either way eventually, you won't be able to see inside of the fittings so...
To each their own.

Thanks a lot for the replies. From the link to savko I found out that it's a wise choice to search for "clear pipes" rather than "transparent pipes". Google hast quite some hits for that. Over here in Germany we only have the standard grey PVC-U material. Rarely you will find white pipes/fittings and clear ones never.
Due the construction of my stand and the position of the pumps the pipes from the tank to the pumps will be visible for about 25cm. It looks as if the pipes are the pillars on which the tank stands. Therefore I'm planning 4 transparent pipes of about 3", two inlets and two outlets (for two RedDragons). There is no light where the pipes are visible, yet white or grey PVC-U pipes would look awful, therefore I would like to have transperant ones. They are quite expensive but I think it is worth it. I will think of a construction that allows me to brush the pipes from above with a long tube brush so I can get rid of algea just in case. The outlet in the tank will be done with "normal" PVC so that no light can pass to the clear pipes. |

Anyone ever notice this in Savko's clear PVC description?
"Resists bacterial and biological activity" Is clear PVC treated with some sort of chemical preventative? Ben |
