im assuming your wanting to cut corners on water quality for your reef. while it may benefit some your not goint to be happy long term. i would get a tds meter and see just where your at. i use a 5 stage rodi. with 0 tds .

It's probably just activated carbon. Running your water through a Britta filter will probably have about the same effect. In other words, what markandkristen said.

Its a plain old granular carbon taste and odor filter, pure and simple. It makes your water taste better by removing the chlorine, nothing else.

Get a quality RO/DI unit. Spectrapure or The Filter Guys are tops.
