will Flame hawkfish eat pistol shrimp?

I have a tiger pistol shrimp paired with a goby. I read the hawkfish will eat cleaner shrimps sometimes.. well, that's about at your own risk kind of thing..

but I have not read about compatibility with pistol shrimp, do you think they will be in trouble? It only comes out with the goby and if the goby retreats it does too.. It has extremely quick reflexes.

Does anyone have a problem with the Flame hawkfish and pistol shrimp .. I assumed it is paired with goby as most pistol shrimps are.

Thanks

i doubt they cant touch the pistol shrimp. the goby should keep an eye out for the shrimp, and before the hawk can touch them, the pair would have darted all the way back into their burrow

iku is corrrect. But they will eat any shrimp of moderate size that they can catch including cleaner shrimp. I once caught a red flame hawkfish with the evidence sticking out of his mouth.

They are very nice but like said anything smaller (shrimp) will be in trouble.

So sounds like pistrol shrimp is ok..

I have a fire shrimp I guess it's just a matter of time... if I put the two together. I want this fish but I can't bear the guilt of risking another reef inhabitant's life.

I would still be hesitant to go with a hawk and pistol. Yes the pistol's carapace would most likely be a deterrent to the hawk if the shrimp is big enough. Even then the hawk may harrass the shrimp and you may never see the shrimp. I had a hawk harass a 3 inch hermit crab to the point where the crab would not come out of the rock work anymore. The crab was too big to eat, but the hawk still ruined things for my tank.
