Slap her on the butt, tell her how lucky she is to have you and if she behaves you'll stick around for another year!

Maybe that's not such a good idea. I think 1st anniversary is paper. Can't think of any paper gifts. Nice dinner, wine and a small piece of jewelry would be nice. Does she have any hobbies you could contribute to? Is there something she's always wanted but wouldn't spend the money on it?

Take her out to dinner, Give her a very nice card with a note written to her from you, (Be romantic), Put a gift certificate, or money for her favorite shoe store. (My wife loves shoes!)

I might take your 1st suggestion crp! LOL
She is a big fan of keeping gifts or knickknacks that I have givenn her.
Dinner is already planned-Le Adore(french rest. in syracuse)/and I am installing a hood over our oven/stove.=no more smoke alarms going off during steak cooking!

The modern gift is clock so I could do something w/ that.

Thx for any ideas

Does she like cats? BrianD just bought a very nice clock for his niece. Here's the thread

I got the missus tickets to a particular theater event she wanted to attend. I think it was either the Russian Circus or Savion (sp?) Glover and on of his tap shows.

For our first aniversary, I had our wedding photo 3-D etched into the middle of a crystal block. Very cool, and it was only $130. Sears also does it, but they have to take the picture. That makes it tough to make it a surprise, so I found a place on the internet that I could just email my existing photo.

It's very difficult to take a picture of a crystal block!

Yep, except we had to sit in front of the camera, and I don't think they were invented on our first, but they are way cool. I know we had one done 5 years ago and they have come a long way from the way they did it then even.

Different angles.

I can't quite seem to recall what we did on our first anniversary. Its weird though because its all december - 15th anniversary, 18 my birthday, 25 xmas, 26 dads bday .. soo its like well, crap. party all month woo!

Is there a local spa place near you that does couples, or something? I have never been to a place like that and am a little weirded out by the whole um.. etiquette of having other people massage you that isnt your spouse but going together might be adventerous fun and relaxing?

Oh wait now I remember. It was like an anniversary\birthday thing. He took me out to Downtown Disney and we had dinner at the rainforest cafe and then took in the Cirque du Soleil show. How amazing!

When you live in orlando some memoriesl ike that sort of blend into one another.

the 2 years after that we did a Medieval knights dinner show and a dixie stampede dinner show- great food and entertainment and what not.. cheesy but really fun and memorable you know?

if you're up for the culture and show sort of thing can always look at the ticketmaster website to see whats coming to your area...

But for romantic? It reminds me of a valentines day where he got a hotel room for me and there was this HUGE bouquet of cookies from cookies by design that said all kinds of really cool lovy things on them.

I am realizing i am spoiled rotten I hope some of these ideas help and good luck - making it past that first year is a great milestone in this day and age.. your chances for staying together greatly increase now! hehe

I want to know who came up with the idea that you should freeze the top of the wedding cake and eat it on the first anniversary?

Like I REALLY want to eat a piece of 1 year old frozen cake!

Ours was actually pretty good afterwards...Of course my mom wrapped it in two layers of saran wrap, a layer of foil, put it in a tupperware container and then a cardboard box. And I forgot about it the first year, we didnt' get it until the second!
