ASM shaft & grommet question.

I was cleaning my skimmer today and now the pump won't start up. I had to leave for work so I couldn't mess with anymore. I think that I have the grommets out of order on the shaft. So what is the correct order for the white grommet and magnet?

So apparently I put the shaft in without the white grommet at the back and its now stuck in the pump. Any suggestions to get the assembly out of the pump and fix my stupid mistake.

Yeah I tried that, but it is in there and the magnet is holding on pretty good. I just don't want to break it either, I will keep on trying.

So I got the impeller out of the pump and reconfigured it the way it should be, and no luck on restarting the 3500 sedra pump. Nothing happens, it seems that the impeller will go back in the pump but it needs to be forced into the pump to sit where it needs to be. So if anyone has any ideas please submit them.

At this point if it won't work I will a. buy a new impeller for this pump or b. purchase a larger pump, possibly a sedra 5000. What does everyone think?

Thanks, Jeff

Make sure that the shaft turns freely inside the impeller housing. If not, soak it overnight in vinegar and it should come loose.

How long has the impeller been in use? Mine wore out after about 1.5 years. The end of the impeller wears down, which causes the impeller to be misaligned with the pump. I kept mine going for a while by adding nylon washers, but eventually that didn't work any more. A new needle wheel impeller fixed it right up.
