Can I buy speakers or hook up my computer to the music system?
Ok - I don't listen to cd's anymore
I find that even though the sound is inferior, I just play music on my laptop... There must be a way to hook this into my sound system that the tv is hooked up to, right? I'd like to be able to do that, but that's all in the game room... Are there speakers that have their own amps or something? Pardon my incorrect jargon - I just don't have a clue about this Anyone?

Sure, you can buy "regular" computer speakers to plug into the lappy and go that route. I did it for my iPod actually. Bought a set of Altec Lansing speakers with powered subwoofer for like $50 on clearance and use that as my "stereo" system.
You should be able to buy a cable to run between your compy and your soundsystem.

Get a patch cord with a mini headphone plug on one end and RCA on the other. Connect your laptop headphone 'out' to a AUX 'in' on your system.
There's sure to be a Radio Shack near you where you can get one of these: http://www.dak2000.com/reviews/2026story.cfm

I used to use a splitter that went from a headphone jack (plugin to sound output on laptop) to the red & white RCA jacks (plugin to back of stereo receiver). It worked well. If you've got a wireless network, there's wireless media adapters to that send the music to your receiver regardless of where your laptop is, as long as it's on your wireless network.

I have Bose Companion 2 's on my Ipod, they are about 175.00. You have to listen to these to believe them. Klipsh pro media 2.1's on my tool box at work for 80.00 they are hard to beat!

if you have i-tunes and bluetooth you can get a $75 receiver for the bluetooth and hook that into one of your back imputs, play the music wirelessly from anywhere in the house.
That's what I do. I have a Mac. anyone else can use it too. |

I have the computer hooked up to the computer speakers and my stereo.
When i get into that VC-10 throttle her up down the runway,....... the house shakes. And i mean everything vibrates in this house. My rule is no flying after 9 pm, to keep the parents off my back. It's not the same without sound.
