Picky Powder Blue Tang

Long story short, recently purchased what I thought was a "good" speciman. This little guy will only eat nori and frozen brine shrimp. I have literally tried everything else. My question, will he be able to live a normal life with this simple diet? I have seen enriched brine shrimp mentioned on this forum. Could someone please elaborate what this product is. He is currently eating "regular" frozen brine shrimp. I have had him for two weeks.

Thanks

Here's what I feed my fish and they seem to love it. I don't have any tangs, but you'll see what the "enriched" brine shrimp look like. Also, try giving them some mysis

Hey, DriftRtist, yup, I sure do, all the time. Infact, I'll be up this weekend. Are you on the Mtn. High forum?

You could also soak the brine shrimp in liquid viamins such as Selcon or Zoe. I am a strong believer in vitamins and have had great results with them.

If the PBT is eating something it is a good sign, have a little patience and introduce new food slowly and it will come around and eat every thing you drop in the tank. My tangs go crazy over Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Pellets when they see me holding the container in my hand the act like dogs wagging their tails. At first they wouldn't eat the pellets!!!!!!!! Also like the other have mention feed mysis instead of brinseshrimp it is more nutritious for them. Brineshrimp is like eating popcorn to us!
Be glad it is eating something I have seen some just waste away in the aquarium. Try to feed any food it will eat just to fatten the PBT up and it will have a better survival rate!

Thanks to all for the replies. He does pick at the mysis shrimp, so I will concentrate on getting this to him every day until he begins to take other foods.

I agree formula one or two pellets make my tang go crazy and all he would eat before that is algae growing in the tank. I think it is the garlic in it, so you might try adding garlic to the food.
