Pump setup question???

My current tank is a 20g high with external overflow, inot a 10g sump, and running a scwd for the closed loop. I am running the Mag7 out of the sump and the Mag3 for the closed loop. I am realizing now that the flow is too much through the sump. No matter what i do i can not eliminate all the micro bubbles in the display becasue of the flow. Not to mention the loud humming the Mag pumps are making.

New plan....

Was thinking of running a Eheim 1250 (320gph before head loss) as a return externally from the sump. Then running the OceanRunner 3500 (900 gph before loss) through the scwd.

The tank is primarly SPS dominated. Whould this setup work well or should I reconsider?

thanks to all that help

I have an eheim 1250 as a sump return (10 gal sump on 20 gal tank). I can't really comment on flow for sps as I am a beginner, but I can tell you that the pump is extremely quiet (you have to stick your head in the cabinet to hear it at all). If I stick my hand in the tank, I can't feel the flow starting at about 5" away from the return (3.5 feet of headloss). It doesn't exactly stir the tank up. The flow through the sump itself doesn't create any bubbles that aren't flushed out through several baffles. I'm very pleased with the pump.

that is great to hear. My current tank is my first tank as well. I was unfortunately stubborn when starting up and didnt pony up the cash for better pumps. I hear nothing but good things about the Eheim pumps.
