skimmer overflowing

My new skimmer is constantly producing alot of foam but...I've had to top off the tank everyday because the darn thing keeps draining my tank. What is going on here?

What kind of skimmer is it? It might just be because it is breaking in or maybe you have a build up of stuff in your tank. Post just a little more info please.

are you using tap water with a conditioner?

I had the same problem, where it would just keep overflowing with foam. turns out the slimecoat or aloe in some conditioners will screw with the skimmer.

It is a brand new AquaC remora. I'm using catalina water purchased from the LFS. I've added no water conditioners.
Is it just breaking in? The manual only talks about this thing producing microbubbles which hasn't happened. All it does is produce alot of wet foam and drain my tank. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything rotting in the tank too. It is pretty clean and my hermit crabs keep it that way.

I say let it run for a few more weeks to let everything break in. Your pump might be running above the spec. It took mine over a couple of months to settle down.
