Can you hold me a spot? I really want to do the project, but need the clear the budget hurdle for the month first. I would be building the larger model.

Thanks,
Josh

Hey Josh

You have a spot tenatively reserved. I'll check back with you when the session is full to see if you still want your spot.

Parts Ordered

I've ordered parts for 9 skimmers. I have...

Builder-Keepers...
California Dreamer (John)
FunMan1 (Steve)
BoviaC (Chris)
Perry T (Perry)
PBetito (Paul)
Melody Corals (Josh) - Tentative

Builder-Donators...
Reefugee (Minh)
GoSlugsGo (Chris)
Brian Prestwood

Photographers...
jlfnjlf (John)

Those of you that are building for yourselves (Builder-Keepers) have to order your own pumps. Those of you who are building for MARS (builder-donators) I've ordered the pumps too.

Brian,

If I have to get my own pump, can you give me more details about what to get? Does Mag7 mean any pump that has 700 gph? Any specific brand/model? Picture of what you ordered? I tried to googling for mag7 didn't give me what I expected.

Thanks....

Hey Perry

Yes, you can use either a Mag7 or a Mag 9.5. Here's a link...

Great! When I tried to search marine depot I found something similar but needed to make sure I had something that worked. Do I need to bring any tools, dremel, drill, saw, glue...?

Ok, I have clearance to finalize/confirm. Just one question - if I don't bring a pump with me - would that be a problem? Can I build this without the pump so as to make a pump selection later (I might just use an existing one I have)?

Thanks,
Josh

Hey Josh

No, its not a problem to add the pump later. In fact, we design the fittings to be pretty flexible. I put a GenX MAK4 on mine.

Brian,

If you need any barb fitting in the half inch to one inch range let me know,I just cleared out my Redding warehose and found a large box of barb to barb, thread to barb, etc.I have 90s/Ys/Tees,inline reducers etc. Also have half inch to 1" bulk head fittings,if you dont need them for this DIY project I can donate to the next DIY project. Also have assorted plastic zip clamps that can be used internally. These are the black clamps not zip(wire)ties.

Brian,

Sounds good I will go thru the box and pull out what you need and pm you. Also what size bulk heads for the next DIY, if I dont have them all I can order them from my supplier which I will donate.

Also when you say MT you mean threaded right! Being a former plumber I know everything as SIP/FIP/Barb etc.

There is no sanity in the world. I wish I could make the build, but just can't move the world off it's axis...

Any chance one of the builder/donator rigs might be for sale?

Oh yeah! Two other things: Would there be any point in a larger pump version of the skimmer on a 75g or is that counterproductive in moving the water through too fast?

Also, are there any diagrams or plans and/or parts lists floating around for this rig?

Hey Kevin

The extras are supposed to go onto the raffle table. I still need to talk to the board about that. If they don't all go onto the raffle table then you're first in line to buy.

Brian,

I am going to need to step away for a few hours on Saturday to shoot a birthday party (1-3).

Thanks Brian. If they all go to raffle I want in on the next build, or would appreciate diagrams, plans and/or parts list. Thanks again.

Did you feel the earth lurch? My calendar changed and I can leave Woodland around 10:00-10:15am! Are there still any builder-keeper spots available?

Brian,

I know space is limited and was wondering if my son can come along. The skimmer is for his tank anyway. I also think he would like to escape the baby shower that my wife is hosting on Saturday.
