When I was young they told me that size doesn't matter... Then I started "reefing" and learned that size matters alot (*jealously to all you 250+ gallon guys)...

But even though I knew that size matters...I've never seen a worm even half that big...WOW Marc! Put that sucker in the Tequila bottle...

I found one almost that big in my overflow once. The scary thing is that I put it in a mason jar in the basement and kind of forgot about it, the sucker lived for over a month. No food, no heat, nuttin'

Marc,

I just wanted to share with you my new light set up that was inspired by your setup.

This is a picture of the light rack in the down position.

This is a picture of the light rack raised.

This is a picture of of the ballast and timers.

Thanks for all of your great documentation of your system.

I like how you have the chualk board set up with test parameter's and the white board with additives and stuff. Very nice!

Thanks Keith, I got the idea of the chalk board paint from Durso. I have been following your thread. Melev's, Randy's, and Rich Durso's for some time now as I dive into this great hobby. I have gotten great ideas off of all of them. I try to DIY am much as I can. I like that kind of stuff.

mbetz: I agree, very nice setup with well thought out parts. Is that under stairs or a roof?

jnarowe: Thanks, my tank is under the stairs to our basement. This was the best place in our house. I have a utility sink right next to it. Also this section was going to stay unfinished since the furnace and water heater are in that area as well.

You guys are all enthralled over the size of my worm.

If you check your overflows, you'll probably find one. The big question is where it came from in the first place. These are the type that tend to kill other snails. They quickly move over the shelled beast, and probably extend their guts into the shell to dissolve through the shield and kill their prey. I've contacted LeslieH to see if she wants to study it.

I've had snails die in the overflow when they should really just clean up and crawl back out. Since there were so many ceriths down there, I decided I better deal with it and curtail any more losses.

Gresham, if you have a plastic (reef-safe) ruler, I'll use it next time. The moment I saw that one at MACNA XVII, I knew I'd be using it for stuff like this.

I just checked on the big guy, and swapped out his ziplock bag with new tank water so that it'll be okay until Leslie replies. I'm tempted to drop some specks of food in there just in case.

Mark - that rack looks great. Is it motorized too?!

jnb - I like the Freud blade. 80 teeth or more, and make sure the blade is labeled ATB (alternating tooth blade). They run about $59 or so.

Melev: The rack is not moterized. I just swing it up when I need to and then I have a hook attached to the upstairs floor joist that I just hook it to to hold it in place. I didn't want to make it more complicated than it needed to be.
