The Iwakis are neither quiet, nor efficient. I'd go with a sequence if I was going external.

With internals, the mags aren't really efficient, and some of them are loud. I think the Ocean Runners are the cream of the crop in the internal pump market.

I saw that he has a 55 gallon, can't imagine using a Sequence for that size tank. My mags and Iwaki's have always been quiet..IMHO..

I was going for external. Now I have a red sea wavemaker and Maxi 1200's (3).

What about a Danner mag-drive supteme?

Go with the Ocean Runner before the Mag, its more efficient so less heat and its quieter.

If you go with a mag drive be careful when plumbing it externally. I have broken many inlets on them by slightly over tightening the threaded piece of plumbing that I was adding into the inlet. Stupid plastic female threaded inlets!!! I wish they would make them a male piece like the outlet.

Basically if you think you need to go a bit further, STOP!!
