Chemistry Question
I normally use Pickling Lime to raise calcium and PH instead of Kalk but here in Hawaii, Pickling lime is not availible.
Any other good substitutes I could use? I might just go buy some kalk for now though. Thanks for your help! SuperXdude

Randys two part diy is pretty good. Although it wont give the Co2 removal and potential phosphate precipitation.
All it takes is baking soda, calcium chloride and occasionally some magnesium sulphate. Its a good idea to have a refrence sample for alk test kits. 1.1350 grams of baking soda in 1gallon of distilled water=10dkh. Check your alkalinity test kit! |

if you still want to use pickling lime you can order it online.
http://mrswages.stores.yahoo.net/mrswagpiclim.html I think theres some other stores that are a bit cheaper too. if you have to buy online get a case or something so its worth it. |
